EFFECT OF MESH DENSITY ON CRITICAL AREAS

Hey Guys,

We are going to dive a little more into the meshing. Bcoz this is a very important topic that needs to discuss with. When we are doing mesh on geometry. There are various types of bodies on them we need to do the mesh. In which it is having some critical areas where there is more stress concentration occurs. So we need some dense type of mesh over there.

Firstly let's talk about what is mesh density?

It is nothing but the number of elements per unit area. As we know, if the density of mesh increases the computation time will go high.

So, here as we have discussed the meshing elements we know that the quad element has better accuracy than tria so here I have found this image in which it has the increasing elements on the same geometry.

So, here you can see that as the number of elements increases near the hole. So now what we are getting through this. The geometry has a dimension of 1000*1000mm and a thickness of 10mm.

We are going to pull it from the right side with a force of 1000N. And fixing it on the left side. The inner hole dia. is 50mm.

And after doing the analytical calculation we have the stress is 3N/m^2

let's take the look at the result table

So as we see the result gets more accurate at the dense area. So you have a question about why we don't create the fine elements at the hole. why it is generally recommended 12/16 elements around the hole.

Bcoz has a direct relation with the time-consuming.

Fun-Fact: Most industries follow the thumb rule for the number of elements on the hole. That is

Critical Areas = 12

general Areas = 6

So, don't take tension about that.

So, guys, lets end with this now, I know we are taking meshing from too back way but it is some important things that we need to know,

There will be some extra topics on meshing, the next topic we will go to talk about what is biasing? and the effect of biasing. As we know the command biasing in software so we will be going into the deep.
